Big wedding on Lake Garda

We were fortunate enough to be invited to a big wedding on Lake Garda so i took the opportunity to bring the Fujifilm X100S and fire away

I have a lot more respect for wedding photographers now. I thought that the Fujifilm X100S was a superb camera for this setting, unobtrusive, fast focus and good metering. Having a fixed prime lens certainly makes you work harder to get the shot. Also the Bokeh effect with the aperture wide open is very good.

Post Photo Manipulation

I have never really been much of a fan of heavy post photograph Make up ! or Photoshopping. Normally i simply crop my pics and make a few minor adjustments or nothing at all.

I only use an old version of Photoshop Elements Version 9 bought used on Ebay for £22. However i have recently been reading a bit about Topaz Labs plug ins for Photoshop. As they offer a free 30 day trial period, So i thought why not! lets give them a go.

I am very impressed, i found them easy to use and very powerful. So far i have only used Topaz Labs Plug Ins,  Detail and also Black & White effects.

So far i am very impressed highly recommended, the actual products also seem reasonably priced. Worth searching the internet for some discount codes, i found one that gave me 25% off both products

I have been playing about with the metering, focussing and also now using Aperture priority. This is without doubt my favourite camera, at the moment i am not noticing the limitations of the fixed lens. It makes you work harder at your photography, as you have to spend a bit more time stepping back and forth to compose the picture correctly. Personally i really enjoy having this discipline enforced upon me.

I feel that this Fujifilm X100S camera is absolutely superb for street photography because it has very fast focussing and also its physical size. I really do not know why, but whenever i go on the street with my Nikon DSLR people sub consciously think photographer, somehow they hardly seem to reconise you with the Fuji, Cartier Bresson who used to paint his Leica,s matt black to blend in to his surroundings was obviously onto something here !

New Fujifilm X100S

I have just bought a new Fujifilm X100S camera, and i am really loving it. I also bought a Manfrotto Amica 10 camera bag, and a Manfrotto Compact monopod primarily for HDR photography.

This is my new Camera, Fujifilm X100S

I could not believe how good a fit this camera was in the Manfrotto 10 bag, like it is custom made

Complete with the Manfrotto compact monopod

Now the first results

The image quality and light metering is absolutely superb with this camera, at the moment while i am getting used to the controls i am just using the camera on full program setting. Shortly i need to experiment with the aperture and trading smaller apertures settings against ISO for more depth of field. Apparently this camera suffers very little with grain at higher ISO readings, we shall see
